"This little-known denominazione--located about 25 miles southeast of Rome--makes solid reds from the Cesanese grape. I'd never seen it before in the U.S...until this lovely example. Beautiful, limpid medium-garnet-to-brick in the glass. Lots of berry fruit now morphing into minerals and tar. The attack is almost sweet, but the follow-through is dry, elegant, graceful, vibrant...with more of the earthy notes than the fruity ones. A slight mouth-pucker in the finish that is lively and completely painless. Just a well-made, straightforward bottle of ageing red to throw back with a rustic meal."
